Looks: You have to love the double cutaway SG shape! And the cherry color with the Rosewood neck is spot on, very authentic!

Tone: This is THE rock guitar sound on hundreds of rock hits.

Plays: Like buttah, baby!

Fantasy: Yes, you'll be Angus Young six to ten hours every week, lol!

Negatives: I owned an SG for several years and there were zero negatives save one, but it might be a deal breaker depending on what you intend to use it for. It has excellent rock and blues tones but if you need a versatile guitar capable of delivering ear-pleasing, distortion-free sound this instrument may not be your best choice. The humbuckers are so hot it's not that easy to get a pure, clean tone. When I got away from playing only rock I tried installing a Seymour Duncan single coil but it just never seemed capable of delivering the clean sound I needed. In particular, it may be okay for clean funk and top 40 but if you intend to play country this will work only on newer type material such as Jason Aldean or Kenny Chesney's harder driving tunes needing gritty distortion. You'll need a second guitar- a Strat and/or Telly- for the rest.

Bottom line: The Gibson SG was my main guitar when what's now called classic rock was paying the bills. It doesn't get any better: Buy it!
