Marshall MG30FX Guitar Combo Amplifier - 10 Inch, 30 Watts Quick Review!
Power: It's the loudest 30 Watts I've heard and yes, it can differ according to how well the amp is matched to the speaker. 30 Watts still isn't much power, but note that a 200 Watt amp is not near twice as loud as a 100 Watt amp, in other words, volume and watts don't increase linearly so you'll probably be surprised at the loudness aspect, at least for solo practice. I wouldn't play a gig with it unless I had a P.A. system to run a line out into.
Tone: Customer Reviews aside, it's not quite the same as playing a vintage Marshall tube head into a couple of closed back 4-10 cabinets loaded with Celestion speakers, but it's got the basic Marshall sound at 1/15th the cost. It even has a recording out jack.
Extras: Vintage Marshall heads are bare bones plug-in-and-play amps. They don't have effects, reverb or programmable presets...but this Marshall MG30FX Combo Amp does! Very nice!
Negatives: Size/power. Once again, it's a very small amp intended for practice, it definitely won't help you get that gig opening for The Rolling Stones or Aerosmith.
Bottom line: If you need a great sounding little practice amp, like that distinctive Marshall tone, and agree the price is right, it has a lot of nice features, BUY IT!
