Best Gifts For Guitar Players

It's fine to buy a guitar for a beginner. We have several good beginner's guitars (both acoustic and electric) at Listen Again Music starting at prices as low as $65 or so. For a really nice gift for a beginner, go with one of the more expensive guitars on the site. It's best to avoid buying a guitar as a gift for an experienced professional player though unless you are positive it's a guitar they'll enjoy as they will be much more picky about the type of instrument they'll play.

Note that electrics can be played without an amp if necessary (you'll hear it quite well, it just won't be loud). And due to technological advances in production techniques, it's no longer necessary to pay three or four hundred dollars to get a decent, playable electric. And if you do pay that much it should have the woods and craftsmanship appropriate to that price range.

Strings

These are a popular gift item but unless you know exactly what the player wants it can be difficult to choose the proper set. To a guitarist, the difference between .010 strings and .011 is huge and with so many different brands, types etc. it may be best to avoid this category entirely.

The Best Gift Items

Our #1 Gift item? The Danelectro and Johnson Pedals in the "accessories" area. Each type of pedal has its own sound and many guitarists collect a number of them. Best Gift #2 is a book or video. A strap is a pretty good bet. Even if the guitarist has one they can wear different straps for different occasions. Metronomes and/or tuners are nice little electronic items that don't last forever. Every guitarist needs them and spares are welcome too. Polishes, cloths and the like are a good choice. Guitar cords take a lot of stress and wear out eventually so all guitarists appreciate receiving them. The Road Hog cables at the site would be the best choice as a gift as few guitarists will spring for that high of a quality cord for themselves. Other good gifts include maintenance kits, stands, gig bags, and cases. Whatever you choose, at Listen Again Music you get real value for every dollar spent.
